Kazakhstan – Semipalatinsk

Kazakhstan. The statue of Lenin in the city of Semey (formerly Semipalatinsk). The city has around 300 thousand inhabitants and is situated 100 km from the centre of the test site. It was heavily contaminated by radioactive particles blown by the winds during the atomic tests.
