Bergamo has the sad record of being the city with the highest incidence of infections and coronavirus victims in the world. The John 23rd is its reference hospital. Here, in the intensive care and ER wards, the latter converted to sub-intensive therapy to cope with the emergency, doctors and paramedics work exhaustedly, with shifts of up to 20 hours, to assist a number of patients whose extent no one could have imagined.
In the meantime, the laboratories are working at a fast pace to analyse as many test tampons as possible, while unfortunately in the morgue the coffins pile up, too many for the funeral services to take care of them.
Thanks to the collaboration of the hospital, we were able to enter exclusively the John 23rd’s wards where the whole staff is at the forefront in the fight against the virus.
