Yuriy does a very particular job: the travel guide in Chernobyl. Since 2011, Ukraine has opened the doors to the area where the nuclear accident occurred back in 1986. Every year at least 15 thousands people visit the place. Yuriy works for one of the many companies which from Kiev organize the “Chernobyl tour”: a day in the disaster area that includes a stop in front of the exploded reactor, a visit to the monument in memory of the dead firefighters, the entry in the abandoned villages and the arrival in Pripyat, the city evacuated two days after the explosion and that today is completing falling apart. Tourists come from the US, Europe, Australia, Japan and South America. Today their money is the only thing which hold the economy of this modern Pompei.
