The tale of the pandemic, one year later
On March 22 one year ago, Sergio Ramazzotti was the first photographer to enter the intensive care unit of Giovanni XXIII Hospital, the symbolic site of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. On that day, Bergamo was the city with the highest per capita death rate in the world. His images were published in the cover story of L’Espresso and are part of the special project Covidiaries (link), a narrative of the pandemic through the images and words of Parallelozero’s photojournalists.
