eMotorsport: the transition runs fast

Extreme E and FIM MotoE: two electric championships full of important stories and themes, told in the most extreme places on the Planet and on the pit lane of the most famous European circuits, with a strategic communication plan and content ecosystem on eMotorsport for the Enel Group’s global communication.

When you’re forced to push it to the limits, technology unleashes its full potential. This is the reason for the Enel Group’s commitment to eMotorsport: decarbonization passes through electrification from renewable energy, a key part of electrification passes through electric mobility, and to spread the latter on a large scale, it is crucial to quickly develop increasingly efficient technologies.

For the Enel Group’s mobility division, eMotorsport is the extreme testbed of those technologies and a high-voltage and very convincing preview of how we will all move one day: fast, silent, zero-impact.

To promote Enel’s values and commitment to the issues of sustainability, electrification, climate change, and empowerment through eMotorsport sponsorships, an extensive communication plan was designed for the Enel Group’s Global Sponsorship and Events and Global Advertising and Content Strategy divisions, declined on digital and social channels of the Enel Group and the Enel X Way business line.

A content ecosystem in which eMotorsport becomes an opportunity to tell the story of electrification to stakeholders and the general public in an engaging and concrete way and highlight the brand’s role as a leader and enabler of the energy transition.

The “E” of eMotorsport, of Extreme E and MotoE, but above all of Electrification and Zero Emissions: the Group’s commitment by 2040. “We care about the E in eMotorsport” is the concept that drives the strategy and content.

One “E,” many “E”s that define the strategic pillars and the stories to be told: commitment to the Environment, Enabling safe innovation, best practices and values related to people’s rights and gender Equality, the initiatives and the relationship with the territories and local communities (Everyone), the new frontier of Entertainment and Emotions that is also good for the Planet.

Extreme E is the “Race for the Planet” that is much more than an off-road race between electric SUVs. The competition is a journey to some of the Earth’s extreme locations – from the deserts of Saudi Arabia and Chile to Sardinia and a former coalfield in Scotland – that are suffering the effects of climate change, to see innovative electric mobility technologies in action that can reduce carbon emissions, male and female pilots racing head-to-head, and a series of legacy programs to help local communities mitigate the effects of the climate crisis.

Another chapter in the narrative: the commitment of the Enel Group and the global business line Enel X Way – as a partner for charging solutions – to the 2023 season of MotoE, the electric two-wheel world championship that runs in parallel with MotoGP on the same circuits.

From Barcelona to Mugello, from Silverstone to Misano, our crews recounted the adrenaline and “electric” thrills of MotoE and accompanied every moment of the competitions, where riders race for the top step of the podium, but above all to accelerate the transition.
